Just in time for Labor Day Weekend, The Rock Yard On Steroids returns to Fantasy Springs Resort Casino with legendary British blues band Savoy Brown on Saturday, August 31st. The FREE show kicks off at 7:30 p.m. with Metal Mania’s tribute to 80’s metal music followed by Savoy Brown taking the stage at 9 p.m. Guests must be at least 18 years old to attend.
Founded by guitarist Ken Simmonds in 1965, Savoy Brown was at the forefront of the British blues movement that also included the Animals, Fleetwood Mac, the Yardbirds, and John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers. The band had a string of successful albums from the late-’60s through the mid-’70s, developing a reputation as a high-octane live act due to their non-stop touring. The current lineup of Simmonds, bassist Pat DeSalvo and drummer Garnet Grimm have been together since 2009 and continue to tour and record. Their most recent effort, 2017’s Witchy Feelin’, reveals why Simmonds deserves to be mentioned among contemporaries such as Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Peter Green.
